Rove: "McCain went too far"

OMG, that's a headline you thought you'd never see!!!

Karl Rove told Fox News on Sunday that some of McCain's recent ads have gone "too far."

"McCain has gone in some of his ads -- similarly gone one step too far," he told Fox News, "and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the '100 percent truth' test."

The Obama campaign immediately leaped on the quote.

"In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove -- the man who held the previous record -- said McCain's ads have gone too far," said campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor, in a statement sent to reporters minutes after Rove's on-air comments. Rove masterminded both of President Bush's successful White House bids.

Now get out your ice skates, folks, because hell just froze over!

ELSEWHERE: The St. Petersburg Times in Florida agrees:

McCain's straight talk has become a toxic mix of lies and double-speak. It is leaving a permanent stain on his reputation for integrity, and it is a short-term strategy that eventually will backfire with the very types of independent-thinking voters that were so attracted to him....

McCain's faux chivalrous outrage over Obama's purported insult is beneath him. He has been a serious public servant willing to say unpopular truths when he thought it best for the country, but he's more than willing in this election to put his name on campaign lies. The leader who says he would rather lose an election than lose a war now risks losing his reputation in an attempt to win the White House.

I am thrilled to see that even Karl Rove thinks McCain's campaign is going crazy. He too may be afraid of what could happen to our country if McCain wins and within a month or two Palin has to take over. It would be a disaster similar to Hurricane Ike.

This CNN headline has also gone too far. I actually WATCHED the Rove interview. He said both may have gone too far and/or at least need to be careful. geeeeezzzz

When is media reporting going to get honest? I don't care which candidate you are for... honest reporting should be the goal for everyone... headlines included. I was quite surprised to see the headline, as I had just watched the interview... How misleading...

If Obama takes office - I am releasing my workers - off-shoring my labor and sending my investments overseas until a REAL President gets in office. Get used to it - those with $250K or more will move out the investments to protect them faster than you can say Hussein... If you rely on your boss for a salary - then prepare not to have a job for long.
