"A nation of whiners"

It hasn't been a great day or two for John McCain.

His top economic adviser, former Senator Phil Gramm, thinks America has become "a nation of whiners" about our economy. He went on to say that American business has never been more "dominant."

Sorry, Phil, but I don't think you've talked to many people on the street lately. You're living in some other universe (can we stop by for a nice Texas barbecue?).

Gramm is standing behind his comments which were originally made in an interview with the Washington Times.

Exactly why is McCain having this guy advise him on the economy, a subject that McCain has admitted he's not an expert on?

(Video link here.)

ADDING TO HIS OWN MISERY, McCain also made some strange comments about Social Security and is getting a pretty negative reaction. Apparently he's just figuring out that workers are the ones who pay for the benefits of those who are already retired. Ummmm, duh!

He thinks that setup is "an absolute disgrace."

So he's now pissed off those who are working (all those whiners) and scared the jeebies out of retired seniors. If only grade schoolers could vote so that he could offend them, too!
