Why I stopped supporting the Human Rights Campaign

"Copia" is Latin for "abundance," and this blog explores my belief that abundance is all around us. We live in a world of infinite possibilities,
and we have the ability to choose our own paths.
I write about a wide range of topics, and common themes are politics, civil liberties, health, the environment, and science.

i emailed them to question their not supporting jim dean in NC, and actually received a response:
HRC PAC generally does not make an endorsement in a primary with more than one viable, pro-GLBT candidate without an incumbent (including the Presidential race at this point). In North Carolina, two candidates have emerged, including one who is openly gay; and another who is a straight ally; both have taken pro-GLBT stands. Both of these candidates count many HRC members in North Carolina as supporters. HRC has chosen to stay neutral in this race at this time, and will reassess this race after the June 6th primary.
obviously a canned response, and from what i've picked up elsewhere, it seems they will only back a candidate when they are confident that the candidate will win. rather than supporting someone who could use the help they hold off to pick the sure winners to bolster their end results on endorsements. "16 of 18 candidates we backed have won."
kind of sickens me, and has me seriously wondering if i'm going to renew my membership next year.
