A good life
It's looking to be a good day. :-)
Actually, it's one of those mornings where everything just feels right. My first semester at CSN is wrapping up, and I'm happy with the way my grades are looking. Yesterday Dad asked me if I was enjoying my classes, and the answer was a definite "yes." I realized that I'm enjoying the classes I'm taking now more than those I took for my major when I was an undergraduate.
Last week I registered for my summer classes, and two days ago I did the same thing for fall. Human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, sociology, statistics, and medical terminology. I will only have a few weeks off between the summer and fall terms, but that feels good, too. I was reviewing all of the physician's assistant programs in California and Nevada this week, and I'm excited about this track I'm on. I want to just keep going... so far I'm feeling no need to take a break (maybe because I was on a break for two years, lol :-).
Last night I made dinner. I've been making a lot of spinach salads lately, and I've got a base salad dressing recipe that I adapt for whatever I add to the salad (throw in some apples, add a touch of allspice to the dressing; last night some fresh strawberries, how about a dusting of cinammon).
Afterwards Victor and I went out with our friend Scott for a few beers. It was a fun night, and we were home by 1am. And it may even be an entertaining weekend in Vegas... my first gay pride here.
I woke up a little bleary-eyed, but it didn't last long. I set the coffee maker on "strong brew" this morning, and we agreed that we preferred it that way.
I made eggs with spinach, provolone, and green onions and served them with a side of mashed sweet potatoes. I had picked up a bottle of fresh-squeezed Clementine juice yesterday... so deliciously tangy!
After breakfast, Victor headed off to work. I cleaned up the kitchen. And in doing so, I reflected on my classes and my life here in Vegas with Victor. It feels good to cook for someone. It feels good to have a plan for where I'm going. It feels good to be looking forward to the weekend: a drive to stateline tomorrow to hit the outlets malls and pick up some California lottery tickets, then dinner with friends, then who knows.
I'm looking forward to my classes... imagine, I know what I'm going to be doing for the rest of 2008! And we've planned a California tour for the summer: Memorial Day weekend in SF, LA gay pride in June, and San Diego gay pride (our anniversary) in July.
It's one of those mornings where everything is just as it should be. I've got a good life.
Aw aw aw!
