Sigh... Palin delivers, but no surprises

Watching the Republican National Convention tonight, I find myself so grateful that I'm a Democrat. Yes, the party of ideas.

As predicted (Ezra, for example) Palin is by far the best speaker of the evening... and far more charismatic than McCain. She will no doubt help his chances for the winning this election.

With respect to what she and McCain might actually do for the country, we've heard next to nothing. She talks about Alaska helping to make America energy independent, but it's simply impossible: America as a whole has 3% of the world's reserves, yet we consume 25% of the world's production. When Matthew Scully wrote her speech, he was smart to throw in a few references to oil facilities in other countries. You almost think that she might know something about the rest of the world. :-)

And in bringing up the Bridge to Nowhere, she neglects to mention that she was for it before she was against it.

I appreciate sarcasm. She's good with it. But her out and out distortions and lies about "her opponent" are overboard.

America has a clear choice. Sarah Palin may be a fresh face, but her politics are what most Americans have grown tired of. She's a movement conservative. I'm surprised she hasn't already made a career as a Republican talking head. It's not just sarcasm that she's mastered... it's mockery. And you can tell she is relishing this.

Palin has chosen to make her introduction to America a slash and burn attack. We'll see if she's what America was hoping for.

Note to John McCain: you might consider hiring a food taster...
