Hurricane season

Is it just me, or does it seem like we're in a new era with respect to the frequency and severity of hurricanes?

Think about it... in the space of two weeks, more than three million people have had to pick up and evacuate along the Gulf Coast.

Hurricane Ike is bearing down on Houston and Galveston... it's a huge storm, even bigger than Katrina (though currently with weaker winds).

Now while I don't know for certain, there are certainly a lot of scientists who feel that a quite credible explanation is climate change. So on the chance that that's true, don't we need some folks leading the country who believe in science and are willing to take the steps necessary to protect our nation's future?

Besides extreme weather, climate change is also going to have a big impact on agriculture. (Think about that, it's our ability to feed ourselves.) Here's an old post about the U.S. Department of Agriculture's predicted impacts from global warming.
