56 days until election day (updated)
Last week John McCain received an $84 million infusion of federal campaign cash after his convention ended. Together with the GOP's war chest, McCain already has all the cash he needs to aggressively continue his campaign of outright lies about his and Sarah Palin's records as well as distortions of Obama's positions on the issues.
Obama needs to raise around $100 million a month to keep pace with McCain... and with less than two months to go, it's critical that he gets our support now.
Please contribute as much as you can and as soon as you can. It's an extremely tight race, and every dollar contributed and hour volunteered will make a difference.
AS FOR MCCAIN:
In 2000 I admired the man. But here's the thing: every single human being deserves respect, and some earn a quality more elusive called "honor."
McCain had honor once. He's squandered it now.
Today was my tipping point, the day I lost all respect for McCain.
It might have been his bullshit ad about Obama wanting to provide "sex ed" to kindergarteners (Obama's bill was actually designed to help give children the basic info to be able to say "no" to child predators)...
Or his ludicrous claims of sexism when Obama used the old adage about putting "lipstick on a pig"...
Or maybe just my final choking on the abyssmal cynicism of McCain's completely political selection for his running mate.
Ultimately we have one thing that we can truly call our own: our word. McCain's has lost all value.
Whatever it is that pushed me over the edge, I've had it with McCain. ENOUGH!
