Pride month: Obama events
In the coming weeks, members of the LGBT community will be hosting events all across the country to express their support for Senator Obama and draw new voters into the process. Here is a quick look at just a few of the activities they have in the works.
In Key West, Florida they’ve made it a two day event. On Friday, June 13th, they will work the crowd and set up a table to register voters during the PrideFest street fair. Then on Saturday, June 14th, they will be active at the parade, handing out information on Senator Obama and continuing their registration efforts. You can get more information, and RSVP to the event here.
Members of the LGBT community in Denver also hope to raise awareness during the two day PrideFest. On June 21st and 22nd, supporters from across Colorado and surrounding areas will unite at Civic Center Park to ignite support, register voters and draw new volunteers into their grassroots movement for change.
Out in West Hollywood, California supporters will serve as active participants in the Pride parade on June 8th. Starting at 9:30 am, they hope to have a sea of energetic supporters (along with some unnamed special guests) marching in support of Barack across LA/West Hollywood. They will also be doing visibility and voter registration on June 7th at the Christopher Street West Pride Celebration.
This is just a sample of the many Pride events that will take place in the next few months. To find one in your area, simply go here and enter “Pride event (official)” under type. Keep in mind, the default search setting limits your results to 5, so adjust it accordingly. If that doesn’t yield anything, you can take the initiative and start your own!
