McCain the flip-flopper

While reporters generally still give John McCain the benefit of the doubt as a "maverick" and "straight talker," he's often getting a pass from the media with respect to his comments, statements, and... flip-flops.

A recent example of this media benevolence: CBS News edited a McCain gaffe about the timeline of the surge in Iraq out of an interview with Katie Coric.
