Operation Walk the Walk in Nevada

From the Nevada State Democratic Party:
Operation Walk the Walk is a new initiative of the Nevada Democratic Veterans & Military Families Caucus. We will have a direct positive impact on the lives of Nevada’s veterans who have served their country but are struggling to pay for their education, find affordable housing, secure a well-paying job, or receive the quality health care they deserve in return for their service.

We will also hold those who “Talk the Talk” -- but fail to “Walk the Walk” -- accountable. We appreciate Americans who vocally support the troops. But we are tired of watching this country deny veterans the support they have been promised when they return home from service. It’s time to fulfill the promises we have made to the veterans who sacrificed so much for our country.

It is time for actions, not words. Please join us at our kick-off events in Northern and Southern Nevada:

NORTHERN NEVADA KICK-OFF:

The Grand Sierra Resort:
(by the State Democratic Convention registration area)
On Friday May 16th, from 2-5 pm

SOUTHERN NEVADA KICK-OFF:

Laborers’ International Union Local No. 872
4201 East Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89110
On Saturday May 24th from 9am -12 noon

At both events refreshments will be provided, but we need you to bring items to send care packages to the troops! What kinds of items?

Items like beef jerky, non-perishable snacks, batteries, toiletries, razors, old & new magazines, drink mix (such as Kool-Aid), cds, dvds, books, and other comfort items.

Please RSVP to info@nvdemocraticvets.com.

Can’t make it? Click here to donate postage money. Every $10 you donate sends one of these care packages to our troops overseas. You can also email us for our address to send checks or to find out how else you can help!
(Note that I had already written the title of my previous blog post before I received this email! :-)
