Those alternates

No one has clearly explained what is going on and why the alternates should be allowed to vote. According to the rules they shouldn't be allowed to vote unless there are empty delegate slots to fill. The chair was sggesting that everyone--delegated and alternates--be allowed to vote on some 'to be determined' date in the future, a clear deviation from the rules.

All of the alternates who showed up for Washoe County's convention today were seated. We had 197 of them and I was one. We filled the open Obama seats and the Edwards seats we won AND Clinton did not have enough alternates to fill all of her seats so some of us got to be Obama delegates after her unfilled seats were given to us.

I was a precinct captain for one of the candidates,. From what I heard, I was not alone in having had my delegate paperwork "vanish". For that matter, some votes in my district vanished as well.

So, I was an elected delegate. But, when I showed up to contribute to our democracy, I was told I couldn't.
