Expectations

As excited as I am about the new national polls which show Obama pulling even Hillary Clinton, I'm remembering to be realistic about tomorrow's results. Obama has made up a huge amount of ground in the past month... Hillary was 20 or more points ahead in most February 5th states when polls were conducted in early and mid-January.

So while he has the momentum of a growing groundswell of new supporters, there are still a lot of dedicated Clinton folks out there who made up their minds awhile ago and will be out in force.

There is no doubt that the Democratic race to the nomination will go on after Tuesday's vote, and Obama is very well-positioned to outperform in the rest of the contests in February. So long as he does a decent job of picking up delegates tomorrow (and Democratic rules for allocating them makes that likely), Obama will have the time to continue to introduce people to his message and bring voters on board.
