And to give you a taste of how I think and write, here's something I wrote shortly after 9/11, "Thoughts on the World."

Hello, world. :-)

This year is all about new beginnings. In January I gathered my tribe--family, friends, former lovers--in San Francisco for my 40th birthday. In March I quit my job and ended 18 years of continuous employment with Oracle, nCUBE, and C-COR. I then moved back to SF after four years in Portland, Oregon.

I've been enjoying my self-created sabbatical, spending time thinking about what I want to do next, catching up with dear old friends, making new ones, and partying quite a bit. But I have had a growing sense that it is time to become more intentional about beginning "what's next."

Last weekend I assisted with weekend one of Wisdom Unlimited, a ten month course offered by Landmark Education. I met so many amazing people, including a few that already feel like old friends and who are willing to mentor me in my new endeavors.

On Sunday I walked out of the hotel where the course was held with something having shifted in my life. I am ready to take off, to take chances, to smile. And so the adventure begins!
